On behalf of the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) I would like to welcome you to our website. I hope you find it useful and reflective of the warm spirit that exists at WAB. Our school is proud of the rich diversity of programs we offer to our almost 1,500 students and their families. We like to think there is a place for all at WAB. We pay particular attention to following procedures that guarantee a rich diversity in our WAB community and are proud of our 57 nationalities and 38 languages represented in our school. We hope that you will avail yourself of the opportunity to learn a great deal about our school by exploring the many areas of this website.

WAB was founded in 1994 and since that time has been guided by its mission to ¡°Educate our children to reach their full potential in a warm and caring community that fosters excellence and responsibility.¡± In concert with the mission statement we ascribe to a set of five Core Values that guide our decision-making: Learner-Centered, China-Global Coherence, Mosaic of Diversity, Caring, WAB Spirit (Gong He).

WAB has a distinctive, creative 'can do' approach in all that it does and a commitment to excellence. Our students engage in a broad range of activities designed to establish them as life-long learners who as global citizens make positive contributions to their community. Our students represent a broad range of backgrounds and abilities and we celebrate and value their individual and collective achievements.

WAB is a technology focused school, with all students using wireless laptop computers as an essential tool in their daily learning. A strong emphasis is placed in developing a strong sense of global awareness and action through community service.

WAB has a very strong sense of community spirit, which is held by students, parents and staff. The 'WAB difference' is something that people quickly see and feel. The best way to experience WAB¡¯s community spirit is to visit our lovely facility and interact with our staff, students and parents. We welcome visitors.
